2015The Douglas Land Use and Transport Strategy (DLUTS) was an integrated land use, urban design and transport strategy that aimed to secure a successful vibrant urban centre with a more efficient transport network for Douglas. This civil works project involved two work packages;
- Work Package 1 (WP1) – N40 Underbridge at R610 Douglas Road
- Work Package 2 (WP2) – N40 Underbridge at R851 South Douglas Road
The following works were undertaken in the packages;
- Removal of the existing blockwork between the existing piers and localised excavation of the existing embankments
- Removal of reinforced earth precast facing panels
- Installation of reinforced concrete and construction of retaining walls
- Construction of footpaths and share use cyclist and pedestrian routes
- Strict Traffic Management measures were put in place to ensure that all construction vehicles traversed the sites and surrounding areas in a safe manner and did not interfere with pedestrian and traffic routes
