Spreading Joy This Christmas: Our Christmas Toy Appeal Success

This Christmas season, the spirit of generosity and compassion shone brighter than ever at MMD Construction as our employees and volunteers, came together to support the Kinsale Lions Club with their Annual Toy Appeal to help make an extraordinary impact. Through a series of remarkable efforts, the team at MMD Construction helped spread joy to children and families in need, delivering hundreds of toys and smiles.

Extraordinary Generosity During Christmas Jumper Days

Our Christmas Jumper Days were a resounding success, thanks to the incredible kindness of our employees. The outpouring of donations was truly heart warming and demonstrated the true spirit of the holiday season. Every contribution made a difference, allowing us to support various initiatives that brought holiday cheer to those in need or children in hospital this Christmas. For monetary donations made throughout the fundraising period, our HR Department descended on Smyths Toys Store to fill the trolley with additional toys and also made up packs of pyjamas and other necessary items children would need while in hospital.

A Magical Visit to Cork University Hospital

The highlight of the season was Santa’s spectacular arrival at Cork University Hospital (CUH), bringing the magic of Christmas to children in the paediatric ward. In a showstopping entrance, Santa flew in by coastguard helicopter, followed by a military tank escort, carrying hundreds of presents for children who will spend the festive season under the care of CUH staff.

This extraordinary event was made possible by the Kinsale & District Lions Club, CUH Charity, and the support of our team at MMD Construction, whose volunteers and toy donations helped make the day truly special. Our team also had the privilege of visiting the hospital wards, meeting the incredible children and dedicated staff, and witnessing first hand the joy and excitement the toys brought and will bring over Christmas.

Collaborative Efforts to Support the Community

In addition to the CUH and in conjunction with the Kinsale Lions Club, toys were also delivered to a local school to help Santa with his Christmas deliveries. This effort ensured that children across the community could experience the magic of the season, no matter their circumstances.

These initiatives brought together a remarkable team of collaborators, including the HSE, Defence Forces, Gardai, Cork City Fire Service, Coastguard, and even the Army Band. Volunteers, musicians, and Cork GAA sports personalities also lent their time and talents, creating an unforgettable event filled with music, cheer, and community spirit.

Thank You for Making a Difference
As we reflect on this heart warming success, we are grateful for the generosity, time, and energy that everyone involved has contributed. The success of this year’s Christmas Toy Appeal is a testament to the power of teamwork and the goodwill of so many individuals.

Thanks to the support of our employees, volunteers, and local partners, we have been able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many children and families this holiday season. Let’s carry this spirit of compassion forward into the new year, continuing to spread joy and make a positive impact in our community. Here’s to even more success and generosity in 2025 and beyond!
