St. Columba’s Boy’s N.S.

This project involved the demolition of an existing school, the construction of temporary accommodation for staff and pupils and the erection of a new school building. The new two-storey school comprises of 24 classrooms, 3 additional ASD classrooms, an occupational therapy unit, state-of-the-art special needs facilities and all associated external works.

MMD Construction was the main Contractor and the Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) for the works at St Columba’s Boy’s N.S. As the PSCS, MMD Construction had the responsibility of managing and co-ordinating all health and safety matters during the construction of the school which was located within a busy suburban area. All works were
completed in accordance with the contract documents and complied with all statutory requirements including the Building Control Regulations and the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations. The works commenced during a school term making it a challenging live site. The existing school remained fully operational while the works were underway. MMD Construction Site Management Team liaised very closely with the Schools Management Team and on-site Clerk of Works to ensure that the works would not interfere with any of the school’s activities.
